2nd ViaMi Contest November 11, 2006 - December 31, 2006.

Happy New Year to all ViaMi friends and members! ViaMi administration wishes all of you a wonderful and healthy 2007!

We've received some additional contest entries just before the close of 2006 - thank you to all who have submitted their works. At this point, the contest is closed for any more entries. In the next day or so, please watch for the updated journal with voting instructions!



Hello to all ViaMi friends and members!

I was trying to come up with an idea for another ViaMi contest for a while. A recent submission to our gallery helped me out, so here it is.



Please read the following Participation Rules carefully:

• What is the contest about – ViaMi has received and posted quite a number of wonderful Architectural Minimalistic works. To up the challenge a bit, but still being true to ViaMi's purpose - Minimalism - this contest is for works depicting people in an architectural setting, but the composition should be such as to focus the Minimalism on an individual (or individuals), yet also depicting the surrounding architectural environment Minimalistically.

• Awards
  
  1st prize - dA print account or 1 year dA subscription or any one of available signed prints by current ViaMi admin - *vbubnov up to 18x24 PLUS Interview and Feature on ViaMi's Journal.
  
  2nd prize - 3 months dA subscription or any one of available signed prints by current ViaMi admin - *vbubnov up to 16x20 PLUS Feature on ViaMi's Journal.
  
  3rd prize - Feature on ViaMi’s Journal.

• Participation – Members only (Remember, if you want to become a member, add us to your watch list AND send a note to us with the subject of ViaMi Membership. If you only add us to your watch list, we will not consider this as a membership request).

• Contest Submission – One submission per ViaMi member for the duration of this Contest. Please send a note to ViaMi account with the subject of ViaMi PERSONA CONTEST. Your note should contain a link to the single work you would like to be submitted for this contest. It would be great if your submission work was created just for this contest, but that is NOT a requirement (old work will also be accepted). Submitted works for this contest will be initially reviewed by ViaMi admin to make sure their composition fits the purpose of this contest (for example, crowds of people in an architectural environment will not be accepted). Accepted works will be posted on ViaMi Persona CONTEST Journal.

• Judging – will be done by ViaMi Members (not by Admins). Judging is now in progress.
  
  ALL ViaMi members need to participate in this contest. Even if you do not submit, please participate in the judging portion – your fellow artists will depend on your vote. Please look at the Contest Submissions posted in the Contest Journal. Each work will be judged on a 1-10 scale (10 being the best). Only 1 vote from each member per Contest Submission. Please send a note to ViaMi account with the subject of ViaMi Persona CONTEST Judging Decision. Your note should contain a template (listed above) with all the contest entries and your score (1-10, with 10 being the best) next to the deviation number of each entry. Scores should only be whole numbers (no decimals or fractions, please). Admins will calculate the scores for each work. The work receiving the highest total score at the end of the Contest will receive the top prize. In case of a tie – we will utilize our Tie-Breaker member. YOU CANNOT VOTE FOR YOUR OWN WORK (if we find this rule is being abused and another account is being used for this type of activity, you will be disqualified and removed from our member list).

• Contest Period: November 11, 2006 – December 31, 2006. Please do not send us your Contest submissions outside of these dates – they will not be considered for this contest.

• Subject – Please keep in mind what we are trying to focus on in this contest – the emphasis should be kept on People Minimalism in Architectural Minimalism environment. Do not submit crowds in front of whole buildings – that is not what this contest is about. To make it a little easier for you, below are examples of what will be Accepted:

To promote Architectural Minimalism Art (in all mediums), artists associated with the genre, share works, images, ideas and provide an open discussion forum.



Our medium, at the moment, is photography. Between the 3 of us, we photograph many different subjects and of course, have our own styles. But what we share in common is our love for Architecture and man made structures and most importantly, taking photographs of these structures from an unusual and abstract perspective.
